Singapore

Arriving in Singapore couldn't have been easier. We got off the plane, went through a short line at customs and grabbed our bag. We took the MRT (train station) to China town where we quickly found our hostel about a block from the station.

Beds and Dreams hostel in Chinatown is clean and feel safe. The first night we met a man from LA. He went to Southern Cali and had some good suggestions for things in the area. There were only a few of us in the room of what should have been 8, which was ideal since we were tired from travels.  However, the second night was a bit different. The room was full, but one bed and a nice man in bed #6 came in at 3AM turned on the lights and proceed to have a full conversation with someone on the phone yelling in Arabic. Eventually he hung up and after someone else asked him to shut the F up he crawled into bed.... thought it was over. Nope. He immediately broke into a load snore that sounded like "the soundtrack of death". Needless to say we ask for a new room for the next day.

Other than Bed #6 man we have had an amazing time in Singapore. The city is very clean due to the big littering fines and The MRT train has been very convenient and very cheap. All together very nice people that happen to speak English.

Since we have never been here before we have done a lot of tourist attractions. First stop was the city bus tour. It was about $25 dollars for full day pass and you can get on and off anywhere you want in a 24 hour period. We took it all around the city and eventually got dropped off at the Botanical Gardens, which was only a $5 dollar entry fee. They are very well known for their National Orchid Sanctuary, which was beautiful.

The second stop was a quick nap time back at the hostel. The third stop was the iconic Garden on the Bay lights. Funny enough they had a Christmas light show that had Maria Carey, Frozen and Jingle Bells as their background music.

Today with a bit of a late start we went to the Newton Food court, which is apparently a very well known food court in Singapore, but seems pretty normal to the other ones we went to. One of their staples is Hainanese Chicken rice, which has become a favorite. It pretty much tastes like a rotisserie chicken with a sweet sauce over it and rice. Yum! Then we headed back to where the Garden on the Bays lights was and went to the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome.

Tomorrow off to Australia!
